Tax Advisory

Your Tax Return Is Not Just One Annual Filing

Your individual tax return reports your personal tax situation. Depending on how your business is structured, your business may also file its own return, with business income and other tax information ultimately affecting your personal tax picture.

Those filings may be prepared at tax time, but the decisions that shape them happen throughout the year.

That is where our advisory program is different.

We are not waiting until you show up with a list of questions and asking us to confirm whether everything you already did was correct. We work with you throughout the year, learn what you are trying to accomplish, and bring the questions and planning opportunities to the conversation.

You Should Not Have to Figure Out What to Ask Your Accountant

Most business owners are not tax professionals, and they should not have to become one just to get value from their accountant. You should not need to spend hours researching tax strategies online, decide which ones might apply to you, and then bring them to your CPA for approval.

Our team takes the lead. We review what is happening in your business, determine what information we need, identify the questions worth discussing, and help you work through the next steps.

If your QuickBooks needs attention, we can help get it set up properly. When it is time for your summer planning meeting, we already know what we want to review. As the year progresses, we continue looking ahead so important decisions are not left until tax preparation season.

Your job is not to design the strategy. Your job is to show up, give us accurate information, and be willing to act on the plan.

A Program Built Around Better Results

Tax savings matter, but they are not the only result we are working toward.

Our advisory program is built around four goals:

  1. Save Taxes: We look for legitimate planning opportunities before the year is over, when there may still be time to make decisions that affect the tax outcome.

  2. Save Money: Better financial information can help you make better business decisions. The goal is not simply to reduce a tax bill, but to help you keep and use more of what the business produces effectively.

  3. Save Time: Your time should not be spent trying to become your own bookkeeper, tax researcher, or financial strategist. We look for opportunities to improve systems, automate processes, and reduce unnecessary work.

  4. Build Passive Income: Saving money is only part of the picture. We also want clients thinking about what their business success can ultimately create for them outside of the business.

That means helping you move from simply earning more to making intentional decisions about how your money can support longer-term financial goals.

We Do Things for a Reason

We are not going to tell you to clean up QuickBooks simply because accountants like clean books.

Better books give us better information. Better information helps us make better decisions. Better decisions can affect taxes, cash flow, operations, and what you are able to do next.

The same applies to the rest of the program. Meetings, planning, bookkeeping support, and tax strategy are not separate tasks we sell simply to give you more accounting services.

They are pieces of a larger process designed to move you toward a better result.

What the Advisory Process Can Include

Your relationship may include:

  • Personal tax return preparation

  • Business tax return preparation when applicable

  • Proactive review of your financial and tax situation

  • QuickBooks setup or support when needed

  • Summer tax and advisory planning

  • Year-end tax planning

  • Guidance around upcoming business decisions

  • Ongoing identification of issues and opportunities that deserve your attention

The exact needs of every client are different, but the responsibility for driving the process stays with us.

We do not expect you to know what you should be asking before you walk into the meeting.

The Investment

Our advisory relationships generally begin around $5,000.

That investment is for the advisory relationship and the process behind it, not a collection of individually priced tasks. You may not need every component another client needs, and additional work outside the scope of the engagement may involve additional fees.

If you are comparing that investment only to the price of preparing a tax return, we will probably look expensive.

But tax-return preparation is not what this program is designed to replace.

It is designed for business owners who want someone involved throughout the year, helping them think ahead, improve how they operate, and make financial and tax decisions while there is still time to do something about them.

You Do Not Need Another Source of Tax Information

There is already plenty of information available.

What most business owners are missing is someone who can look at their specific situation, determine what matters, and help them act on it.

If that is what you have been looking for, our advisory program may be the right next step.
